Hello, Sweet Friends!
I hope you enjoyed my last post on my top 3 places to stay in San Diego. If you missed it you can just click here. The thing about San Diego that gets me every time is that is has a little bit of everything. Coronado has the most amazing Mexican Food north of the boarder & the best Irish Car Bomb, in my opinion. Ocean Beach is swelling with love & adorable dogs roaming the beaches. Downtown has a little bit of party & a healthy dose of sunshine. And then there’s Mission Beach with all of the adventure & beautiful views. There is so much to do that I’ve never been here & experienced the same trip twice which is what always keeps me coming back. Keep reading for some of my favorite things to drink and do in this beautiful city. I highly suggest you give a few a try depending on where in San Deigo you’re staying!
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere
It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a glass of wine, an Irish car bomb, or sex on the beach. These are some of my favorite stops for drinks in San Diego .
Kilowatt Brewing :: Y’all this is one of the coolest bars I’ve been in on ANY trip. If the name doesn’t give it away this is all beer but ladies they had some delicious ones so even if you’re not a beer girl give it a shot. I had the Passion Fruit Green Tea Ale and it was so good! Even if you don’t get a drink though you have to stop by to put on some 3D glasses and check out the décor, you will NOT be disappointed. It’s the perfect place to find something to drink & do,
Sunshine Company Saloon :: We came here multiple times on our weekend in OB. It is two stories so if you sit upstairs and you happen to get a space near the front of the building you get a great view of the beach and street below. There are a ton of fun arcade games & they serve food as well. It got a little too clubby at night for me but if that’s your scene and you don’t want to go to Gaslamp this is a great option close to the Ocean Beach Hostel.
OB Surf Lodge :: We had brunch here our first morning of the trip. The restaurant is all windows facing the ocean so no matter where you sit you have a beautiful view. I had Crab Cake Eggs Benedict that was too die for & mimosa, mimosa, mimosa!
Surf Rider Pizza Co. :: It could be the fact that I was on the verge of actual starvation by the time we got here but I am willing to say this is the best pizza I’ve ever had. Also, their desserts are so worth it! After a long day of exploring this was the perfect meal. It’s super close to the beach so we spent the rest of the day lounging in the sand close by.
McP’s Irish Pub :: There is a napkin from this restaurant hanging on our fridge so to say it’s kind of special, might be an understatement. This is the location of my very first Irish Car Bomb!! It’s also the location where I bet Collin I could drink mine faster than him. Even though there is solid video evidence I lost he has always let me say I won. So yeah, this pub is full of love & I highly recommend a visit. One of the top recommendations on what to drink & do in San Diego.
Miguel’s Cocina :: Y’all I’m sharing what I think is the best kept Coronado secret with you right now. You’ll have to look up the location of this to find it. It’s across from the Hotel Del Coronado & you have to go down a little alley/hallway to get to it. There are signs out front directing you to go that way – I just personally didn’t even see them. Someone stopped us on the street, told us to try it, and then led us there. The best food & margarita I have EVER had.
Sand Bar Sports Grill :: These street tacos are voted the best in San Diego & for good reason – they are delicious. Set right on Mission Beach and next to Belemont Park this is the perfect place for lunch if you are in the area and gives you plenty to drink & do.
Moonshine Flatts: I honestly haven’t gone out in the area very much, I feel like I gravitate towards a more chill vibe on vacation. Collin has with friends though & he said this should be added to the drink & do list so, here we are. His description on why you should go: Big open two story bar with stage & live music. The bar is very easy to access & they have pool tables (big win for him.) This one has a very country vibe. My Arizona ladies, it’s similar to Whisky Row in Gilbert.
Girls Just Wanna Have Sun
Okay, I’m not going to give an explanation for each of these because most are self-explanatory & that would just make this way too long. Here are my favorite places to shop & things to do in San Diego! As you can see if you want a shopping day I highly recommend Coronado.
- Creations Boutique :: Ocean Beach
- Luv Surf :: Mission Beach
- Trendy & Tipsy :: Mission Beach
- Seaport Village :: Gaslamp
- Wild Dove Boutique :: Gaslamp
- Seaside Papery :: Coronado
- Pretty Please :: Coronado

Things to Do
- Rent Scooters :: They are everywhere. Go exploring. See where the day takes you!
- Dog Beach :: What is better than being on the beach with puppies?
- Resort Pools :: If you aren’t staying at a resort with a pool try Resort Pass. Collin & I use it whenever we need a little daycation.
- Belemont Park :: My mom & I walked over here one night when we were staying in Mission Beach and we had a blast! Highly recommend. This would be a perfect little date night & there are plenty of restaurants around it.
- Petco Park Base Ball Game :: You can’t go wrong with a baseball game! My opinion is not biased or influenced by my adorable boyfriend I swear! Really though, the Park has a BEAUTIFUL view of the city. According to Collin it’s one of the nicer baseball fields & he’s been to a few.
- San Diego Zoo
- Balboa Park
- Sea World
- USS Midway Museum
- Maritime Museum of San Diego
- La Jolla
- Sunset Cliffs
- Point Loma
- Torrey Pines State Reserve
- Rent water sports gear (kayak, paddle board)
That’s all I’ve got! There’s so much more to do but these are just a few of the things I’ve done that I’ve enjoyed in the area. If you are heading to San Diego soon I hope you have so much fun! Let me know what you end up doing & how you like it!
